Community Kindergarten Duck Race

Though the weather was more suited to the ducks than the spectators, the Great Te Puru Duck Race was a great success, highlighting the popularity of the established Thames Coast event.
 

This was the seventh annual duck race for the Thames Coast Community Kindergarten, who holds this event as their major fundraiser each spring.

This iconic local event brings together the children, their families and the wider Thames community, with many families returning even after their children have left the kindergarten. More than 200 raffled ducks were the next to make their way down the course, making a colourful sight on what was a fairly grey day.

Duck race organiser Natasha Donnelly was thrilled with the way the community got behind the event. "The kindy is extremely grateful for the support of the community," she said.
