Storage - the hidden factor in successful bathroom design

The true challenge of any family bathroom design is to create a clutter-free, spacious bathing area that is both functional and restorative. To get the look, storage – lots of it - is the deal-breaker!

Vanities are the first port of call – and a wall hung option, that will show more of the floor, will give the illusion of extra space.   The Valencia design for example, in several different sizes and configurations, offers deep, spacious soft-close drawers that will cope effortlessly with taller bottles and containers plus towels, toilet rolls and other bulky items.

For even more storage, utilise a corner of the room to install one of the matching Valencia tower cabinets that create masses of customisable storage with their removable shelves.

Drop-in baths – such as the luxurious Studio II rectangular bath shown – create ‘dead space’ by the very nature of their installation.  But this bathroom shows how this traditionally ‘dead’ space has been used to create convenient storage for towels and even plants.

The ability to incorporate pot plants into the design of the bathroom is an extremely fortuitous move as the levels of toxins, such as VOCs, can be fairly high due to the shampoos, conditioners and cleaning materials we use.  The good news is that just one medium-size pot plant can improve the air quality, in an average space of 4x5m, by an
impressive 25%!  Five medium pot plants can make the air up to 75% cleaner!
